Mosquito Magnets - Science & Operating Costs
The Mosquito MagnetTM is an industrial
grade machine that will collapse localised mosquito populations
within 3 to 6 weeks over a wide area ( up to 6,000 square
metres for the AfriTrap ). The technology was developed over
the last 10 years for large-scale entomological capture programmes
in the USA. The same technology has now been miniaturised and
incorporated for commercial use in the 
range . 
The traps only catch mosquitoes and other
blood-seeking insects, they use no pesticides whatsoever
and are totally silent and safe, with almost no maintenance and
operate on readily available LPG ( Handigas / Easigas ), as used
in resort kitchens and commercial factory canteens.
The Mosquito MagnetTM is not
designed to replace large-scale government or commercial spraying
programmes, but rather to augment these by rendering communal
living, dining and recreational areas free from mosquitoes and
other biting insects.
Mosquitoes are not naturally migratory, 90% of
those biting you live within a 75‑metre radius, the rest
drift in on the wind from time to time. Mosquitoes can breed
in very small amounts of water that is trapped in animal footprints,
the recesses in tree trunks or in the hollows of rocks.
