Mosquitoes and other blood-seeking insects detect human or other hosts through their carbon dioxide exhalations.  In the case of mosquitoes, only the female sucks blood and her sensory systems can detect a host from up to a 100 metres away. 

The Mosquito Magnet^TM mimics a large mammal host by emitting a plume of warm, moist carbon dioxide.  This plume covers a wide area and is much stronger than the emission from a human.  In addition, the Mosquito Magnet^TM laces the plume with naturally occurring pheromones called OCTENOL or Lurex³ that greatly enhances the attraction for female mosquitoes.  The plume is totally safe and environment friendly.

The Solar Powered PRO+ and Liberty+ require no electrical power point and runs stand-alone, anywhere.  The Defender model requires a stable 220 vac outlet and a 12 vac adapter is provided with a 25 metre cable.  All models run on readily available Liquid Petroleum Gas ( Handigas / Easigas ).  A standard 12.5 Kg gas cylinder will last around 21 days and costs in the region of 125.00 Rands.  The replacement OCTENOL or Lurex³ cartridge is changed simultaneously with the gas and retails for 65.00 Rands.  Monthly running costs are thus in the region of 190.00 Rands, far less than commercial fogging or spraying.
